If you've never tried them before, you basically put your uncooked ingredients in a wide mouth thermos style food jar, pour boiling water in with the food, seal and then wait. If you are thinking ahead, you could easily cache some along your bug out route as well.Īnother thing I'd highly suggest is looking at incorporating thermos meals into your plan. So it would be worth the trouble to acquire it. Finding fuel may be a little more difficult in a shtf event, but pressurized gas is more efficient than wood, doesn't produce a smoke sign in the sky and won't lead people toward the smell of a campfire. I know the one I have is probably 40 years old but it would easily fit into a 50 cal ammo can along with several spare seals, pumps and a couple of bottles to store fuel in. I think they even sell a propane adapter for it. Have you considered a Coleman single burner white gas stove? I have one, it can be ran on either white gas, kerosene or gasoline.
